At 1405 you fix your position 104°T, 2.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 333°T at 7.8 kn until 1445, then 166°T at 6.4 kn until 1530.

Give the 1530 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
