At 0940 you fix your position 279°T, 1.8 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 039°T at 7.4 kn until 1000, then 137°T at 9.3 kn until 1045.

Give the 1045 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
