At 1400 you fix your position 046°T, 2.8 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 289°T at 9.2 kn until 1415, then 042°T at 4.3 kn until 1455.

Give the 1455 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
