Dividers: drag from one point to another on the chart

Start a drag on a charted object or buoy and it snaps to it. The readout gives the true bearing (and magnetic, 7°W) from where you start to where you are, and the distance in nautical miles.

Two legs from a 0810 fix: where is the 0925 DR?

At 0810 you fix your position 003°T, 2.3 nm from Mill stack. You steer 339°T at 7.5 kn until 0855, then 073°T at 6.3 kn until 0925.

Give the 0925 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
