At 1235 you fix your position 251°T, 2.4 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 341°T at 6.7 kn until 1310, then 174°T at 4.2 kn until 1325.

Give the 1325 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
