Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 282003
Two legs from a 1100 fix: where is the 1140 DR?
At 1100 you fix your position 105°T, 1.8 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 067°T at 4.8 kn until 1115, then 181°T at 8.9 kn until 1140.
Give the 1140 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.
Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
