At 1415 you fix your position 036°T, 2.6 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 259°T at 7.9 kn until 1425, then 046°T at 9.4 kn until 1450.

Give the 1450 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
