At 0820 you fix your position 265°T, 1.6 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 105°T at 8.8 kn until 0850, then 312°T at 7.1 kn until 0905.

Give the 0905 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
