At 1515 you fix your position 175°T, 1.0 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 316°T at 5.8 kn until 1540, then 248°T at 8.1 kn until 1605.

Give the 1605 DR position as the true bearing FROM Heron Point Light to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
