At 1505 you fix your position 253°T, 2.6 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 343°T at 6.6 kn until 1550, then 203°T at 4.8 kn until 1600.

Give the 1600 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
