Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 34005
Two legs from a 1035 fix: where is the 1120 DR?
At 1035 you fix your position 147°T, 0.9 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 271°T at 6.5 kn until 1045, then 312°T at 6.4 kn until 1120.
Give the 1120 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.
Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
