At 1410 you fix your position 039°T, 3.1 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 012°T at 5.6 kn until 1435, then 235°T at 5.8 kn until 1510.

Give the 1510 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
