At 1340 you fix your position 026°T, 1.3 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 077°T at 5.4 kn until 1350, then 268°T at 4.6 kn until 1435.

Give the 1435 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
