At 1145 you fix your position 296°T, 1.3 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 049°T at 9.1 kn until 1210, then 283°T at 8.4 kn until 1250.

Give the 1250 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
