At 1105 you fix your position 240°T, 2.7 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 318°T at 7.3 kn until 1125, then 359°T at 8.2 kn until 1145.

Give the 1145 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
