At 1600 you fix your position 070°T, 3.3 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 215°T at 4.3 kn until 1615, then 150°T at 5.8 kn until 1625.

Give the 1625 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
