At 1550 you fix your position 278°T, 2.3 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 238°T at 4.9 kn until 1615, then 018°T at 6.2 kn until 1645.

Give the 1645 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
