At 1300 you fix your position 063°T, 4.7 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 180°T at 6.8 kn until 1345, then 262°T at 9.5 kn until 1355.

Give the 1355 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
