At 1220 you fix your position 281°T, 3.0 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 125°T at 9.9 kn until 1245, then 160°T at 8.4 kn until 1305.

Give the 1305 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
