At 1245 you fix your position 026°T, 2.6 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 262°T at 5.4 kn until 1300, then 028°T at 4.6 kn until 1320.

Give the 1320 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
