At 1420 you fix your position 218°T, 1.9 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 350°T at 6.7 kn until 1440, then 266°T at 9.0 kn until 1520.

Give the 1520 DR position as the true bearing FROM Westfield church spire to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
