Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 50006
Two legs from a 1040 fix: where is the 1125 DR?
At 1040 you fix your position 242°T, 1.7 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 216°T at 5.8 kn until 1110, then 347°T at 5.5 kn until 1125.
Give the 1125 DR position as the true bearing FROM Heron Point Light to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.
Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
