At 0705 you fix your position 224°T, 2.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 079°T at 4.4 kn until 0735, then 258°T at 8.4 kn until 0810.

Give the 0810 DR position as the true bearing FROM Mill stack to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
