At 0905 you fix your position 270°T, 2.2 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 111°T at 6.4 kn until 0945, then 291°T at 7.2 kn until 1010.

Give the 1010 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
