At 1500 you fix your position 297°T, 2.2 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 162°T at 7.7 kn until 1530, then 060°T at 5.0 kn until 1540.

Give the 1540 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
