At 1045 you fix your position 051°T, 1.9 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 302°T at 9.2 kn until 1055, then 241°T at 9.1 kn until 1120.

Give the 1120 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
