At 1135 you fix your position 240°T, 2.7 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 280°T at 6.5 kn until 1145, then 060°T at 5.4 kn until 1220.

Give the 1220 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
