At 1600 you fix your position 025°T, 2.0 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 281°T at 9.6 kn until 1620, then 152°T at 6.5 kn until 1630.

Give the 1630 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
