At 1045 you fix your position 049°T, 1.7 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 321°T at 7.8 kn until 1110, then 115°T at 6.4 kn until 1130.

Give the 1130 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
