At 1200 you fix your position 038°T, 4.5 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 185°T at 10.0 kn until 1230, then 341°T at 6.0 kn until 1255.

Give the 1255 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
