Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 72008
Two legs from a 1055 fix: where is the 1120 DR?
At 1055 you fix your position 357°T, 1.4 nm from Kittle water tank. You steer 336°T at 9.8 kn until 1110, then 256°T at 7.1 kn until 1120.
Give the 1120 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.
Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
