Skill 3 · Dead reckoningProblem 75006
Two legs from a 1235 fix: where is the 1310 DR?
At 1235 you fix your position 260°T, 3.1 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 127°T at 6.6 kn until 1255, then 276°T at 4.1 kn until 1310.
Give the 1310 DR position as the true bearing FROM Mill stack to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.
Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
