At 1310 you fix your position 249°T, 2.7 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 230°T at 4.5 kn until 1325, then 297°T at 8.1 kn until 1340.

Give the 1340 DR position as the true bearing FROM Heron Point Light to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
