At 1430 you fix your position 044°T, 2.4 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 171°T at 5.6 kn until 1450, then 131°T at 9.4 kn until 1505.

Give the 1505 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
