At 0810 you fix your position 275°T, 1.2 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 267°T at 9.7 kn until 0825, then 343°T at 8.7 kn until 0855.

Give the 0855 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
