At 1510 you fix your position 073°T, 2.0 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 163°T at 7.3 kn until 1545, then 245°T at 8.5 kn until 1600.

Give the 1600 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
