At 1020 you fix your position 269°T, 2.0 nm from Gannet Rock daybeacon. You steer 299°T at 5.3 kn until 1035, then 354°T at 5.1 kn until 1055.

Give the 1055 DR position as the true bearing FROM Tern Island tower to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
