At 0955 you fix your position 245°T, 1.8 nm from Tern Island tower. You steer 175°T at 4.0 kn until 1020, then 112°T at 4.9 kn until 1100.

Give the 1100 DR position as the true bearing FROM Gannet Rock daybeacon to the DR, and the distance. Courses are true and speeds are through the water; dead reckoning ignores current and leeway.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
