Two hand-bearing compass bearings at 1345: plot the fix.

At 1345 you take two bearings with a hand-bearing compass: Heron Point Light bears 245°M and Mill stack bears 176°M.

Variation is 7°W (from the rose); a hand-bearing compass held away from the boat's steel is taken to have no deviation. Convert to true, plot the two lines of position, and give the fix as the true bearing FROM Green can "1" to the fix, and the distance.

Tolerance: 2° and 0.15 nm (or 4 % of the distance).
